An originally choreographed performance by Stephen Wynne, Artistic Director of the Sangre de Cristo Ballet, Carmina Burana will inspire and stir all who experience this dramatic story. The score, written by Carl Orff, was inspirited by 24 poems from the medieval collection Carmina Burana, which cover a wide range of topics. Wynne's contemporary choreography incorporates elements from these 24 poems set to Orff's percussive musical score and operatic voices to create an earthy, gutsy and driving story of a village searching for deeper meaning. Within this human landscape resides a character who decides he will become the scapegoat for his people's ills in the hopes of encouraging reflection and compassion.
