History of the Japanese Americans of Costilla County Description:
As part of Archaeological and Historical Preservation Month the Pueblo Archaeological and Historical Society's meeting, Thursday, 5/5, will host a free public presentation on the experiences of Costilla County Japanese Americans. Through the voices of 13 Japanese American interviewees and their ancestors, Lorrie Crawford will share stories of the rich culture, religion, traditions and farming practices they brought to the Alamosa Valley in the early 20th century. She will reveal the hardships faced as their loyalties and patience were tested during World War II and through the decades of struggle to become United States citizens.
