The Artists' Gallery, 416 Main St., Historic Downtown Canon City, invites you to our monthly "First Friday" art event on August 7th from 5-8 p.m. Three very talented local artists will be featured throughout the month.

Ken McGowan, respected art educator and painter, recently won the Grand Champion award for the 2015 Harvest Fest Art Poster and Wine Label Competition held by The Winery at Holy Cross Abbey. His winning artwork, entitled "Season's Bounty", will be on display. Ken is also featuring a variety of watercolor, acrylic and pastel pieces that entertain the eye with the idiosyncratic, humorous and surrealistic compositions that define his self-expression.

Kathy Pinover has a gift for fashioning exquisitely refined, delicate jewelry. She precisely unites crystals, pearls and unique beads with tiny hand-crafted sterling silver links. Each lovely piece is designed with a theme inspired by Kathy's visions of Colorado and the Southwest.

Photographer, Sam Carlsson, views the world around us as full of beauty and hidden surprises. His finely-attuned eye captures images of nature and landscapes that most of us never even notice, evoking awe and delight. In addition to his beautifully framed prints, he has produced a series of professional-quality greeting cards designed to visually convey an emotional response and sentiment.
