First Friday Artist's Reception Description:
First Friday at the Artists' Gallery is an eclectic mix of visual delights, interesting conversations, intimate music, and tasty refreshments! We invite you to join us on October 7th, from 5-8 p.m., for this fun monthly event, as we showcase the art of three of our uniquely talented members.

Inspired by her successful second year exhibiting at the prestigious annual Loveland "Sculpture in the Park Show", sculptor and painter, Deidre Wilda, stuns us with her latest mixed-media bird sculptures. Incorporating elements of steam punk into some of her new pieces, she has added hints of humor to further charm the viewer. Each one-of-a-kind sculpture is coated with a metallic finish, realistically replicating bronze in all of its subtle colors and sheen. Additionally, Deidre's distinctive watercolor paintings, finished with an intriguing "crackle" technique, further explore color and humor in her favorite subject--amazing Colorado wildlife.

Watercolor artist and photographer, Dr. Linda Carlson, describes her evolution as an artist: "Discovering the nuances of painting with watercolors changed forever the way in which I look at the world. My perception of details, contours, composition, subtle changes of light and shadow, inspires my artistic interpretations. The contrast between the clear, dry climate of Colorado and the soft, misty landscapes of my native Wales--the difference in light and color tones, textures, and essences of mood--are fascinating to me."

Photographer Robin Riddle's deep love of all animals, wildlife, farm animals and domestic pets alike, is clearly evident as the subjects of her astonishing art photography--magically capturing their essence at just the precise moment. Robin is also presenting photos celebrating Colorado's unsurpassed serenity, and images of "reminders of the past" that stimulate her imagination with the stories that they hold secret.

Back by popular demand, singer/guitarist Tom Gudding, will entertain with toe-tapping music! Come feast your eyes and feed your soul, while supporting the arts in Southern Colorado! The Artists' Gallery, 416 Main St., Canon City, is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more information call (719)345-4070 and visit our Facebook page.
