Steelworks Museum
Food Chemistry; Kids FREE Science Saturday Description:
Kids FREE Science Saturday on November 22 from1-3pm for 8-12 year-olds (with adult helpers). The focus will be food chemistry experiments.

To be a productive CF&I worker, a healthy diet was crucial. Do lemons, limes, oranges, or grapefruits have more vitamin C? What about orange juice or lemon juice from the store versus fresh? What about juice from concentrate? Does canning or freezing change the nutrition of fruits and vegetables? Answers to these and other food related questions will be explored in this Free Science Saturday. Participants will perform hands on experiments testing for glucose, starch, protein, and vitamin C. Please note those with food allergies or sensitivities may be affected in this workshop.

Admission for kids to the museum and these science experiments is free and open to the public; however reservations are required for the session.

Free Science Saturdays is made possible by the Southern Colorado Community Foundation.

The Steelworks Museum is located at 215 Canal Street in Pueblo. To register, call (719) 564-9086 x108.
