Total Lunar Eclipse Viewing Event
3:30 AM
Nature and Wildlife Discovery Center
Total Lunar Eclipse Viewing Event Description:
During the early morning hours of Wednesday January 31st an astronomical hat trick will take place as our moon treats us to an amazing display of lunar orbital dynamics: a total eclipse, Super Moon and Blue Moon. The Southern Colorado Astronomical Society will be on hand at the Nature and Wildlife Discovery Center, formerly known as the Nature and Raptor Center of Pueblo, upper parking lot beginning at 3:30 am with telescopes to observe this very unique event. Everyone is invited to join the society to take in this lunar trifecta.

It not uncommon to experience a Total Lunar Eclipse, nor is it infrequent to witness a Super Moon; it happens three to four times per year on average. It’s not at all rare to observe a Blue Moon; that will take place once every 2 to 3 years. However, if you combine a Total Lunar Eclipse with a Super Moon and a Blue Moon, now we are talking about a truly unique event: a Super Blue Blood Moon Eclipse.

The society will provide coffee, hot chocolate, apple cider and tea, free of charge, to those attending. The astronomical group will also have heaters on hand to keep the cold at bay while enjoying the celestial event.
