We’re opening early for our friends with sensory sensitivities! Program participants will have early access to the exhibits from 9:00 am - 11:00 am before the Museum opens to the public at 11:00 am. These mornings are great times for children and families to play with our hands-on exhibits, explore the Art Studio, and enjoy family time in a safe, accessible and welcoming environment.

This experience includes a sensory-modified setting, limited attendance, and sound and lighting adjustments. We also have a social story to help prepare families for their Museum experience. The Buell Children’s Museum will lower loud gallery sounds and roll out ‘sensory bins’ with sensory-friendly activities. Staff members will be on hand throughout the site to answer questions. On your first visit, grab a sensory map to see the space’s active and quiet spots and check out the sensory break room.
Admission is free thanks to our sponsor, NTSOC. However, advance reservations are required as space is limited to 30 children.
