First Friday Artist's Reception Description:
August’s “First Friday” at The Artists’ Gallery!

The Artists’ Gallery is welcoming guests on First Friday, August 7th from 5-8 p.m., for a “socially distanced” evening of comradery and support of the arts throughout our community! Recorded music by musician, Tom Gudding, will be entertaining us during the evening, in memory of his life and talent. For the time being, no refreshments are being served inside the gallery. August’s Featured Artists:
Frank Ventura says of his luminous “impressionist-style” paintings, “Watercolor is my favorite medium, as it offers unlimited colors which allow me to capture different moods, atmospheres, and depth of subject matter.” Always honing his skills, he adds, “I try to create interest by using various techniques; painting from lights to mid-tones to darks and harmonizing the colors.”
Linda Ouellette is an accomplished jewelry artist and owner of Rockin’ L Designs. Originally from the East Coast, she and her husband moved to Colorado to raise quarter horses on their ranch in Westcliffe, where she fell in love with the west. Linda expresses this love in her jewelry designs—her bold, striking pieces capture the modern flair of today’s southwest. Living her “cowgirl dream”, Linda personifies Western women as fashionable trend-setters!

Owner of Eagle’s Heart Designs, jewelry artist Lin Ward, reveals that her love of color, texture, and movement inspires her jewelry designs. Her creations, highlighting the most exquisite natural stones, are stunning statement pieces of wearable art! Sadly, we must bid farewell to Lin, as she and her husband have relocated to Arizona full-time. Lin’s vibrant presence, and the gift of her exceptional artwork will be missed! August is her last month with The Artists’ Gallery.

Painter, Ken Keegan, has enjoyed a professional career in graphic design and printing, and as an award-winning editorial cartoonist for the Ute Pass Courier. In recent years, he has transferred his artistic skills to watercolor and oil painting with the same passion, humor, and love of life in Colorado. Ken proclaims, “I love to paint, and something is always on the easel!”

In compliance with the state’s mandate during the COVID-19 pandemic, we require all who enter the gallery to wear a protective face mask and will provide a complimentary mask for those who do not have one with them. The safety of our guests and artists is our primary concern!

The Artists’ Gallery, 416 Main St., Cañon City, is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Every Thursday, we stay open until 7 p.m. during the Main Street Farmer’s Market (4 to 7 p.m.). For information call (719)345-4070 or visit: www.facebook.com/TheArtistsGallery/.
