Sordid & Sacred: The Beggars in Rembrandt's Etchings

Through September 24, 2017 in the White Gallery. Rembrandt Van Rijn, widely recognized as the greatest practitioner of the etching technique in the history of art, created a body of work unparalleled in richness and beauty. Rembrandt repeatedly chose beggars as the subject for his etchings. The exhibition entitled Sordid and Sacred: The Beggars in Rembrandt's Etchings with selections from the Villarino Collection will be presented at the Sangre de Cristo Arts & Conference Center from June 3 through September 24, 2017. The Villarino collection features 26 rare etchings by Rembrandt van Rijn (1606- 1669), executed between 1629 and 1648. In addition, a Rembrandt piece from the Harry & Karly Spell collection and a sampling of Rembrandt etchings from the collection of the late Dr. Ronald Moreschini will be displayed along with educational text about provenance and the art of collecting.
Open Daily 10AM-5PM through Labor Day, then Wed-Sun 11AM-4PM.
Admission $8 Adults, $6 Children, Military, and Seniors 65 . Arts Center Members always free.
