The Rocky Mountain Military Affairs Society presents a free public lecture, "Red Triumph: A Military Look at the Russian Revolution and Civil War, 1917-1922," on 29 November 2017 at the East Library Annex, 5550 N. Union Blvd, Colorado Springs CO 80918. The speaker, Dr Grant Weller, serves as Chair of the Department of History, Political Science, Philosophy, and Geography and Associate Professor of History at Colorado State University-Pueblo, where he teaches courses in the history of Russia, Europe, warfare, US foreign relations, and world history. A 22-year veteran of the US Air Force, Weller holds degrees from Temple University (Ph.D. 2009), the University of North Dakota (MA 1998), and Penn State (BA 1993). His talk will focus on how military factors and contingencies led to the end of the Russian Empire and the creation of the Soviet Union through a prolonged and bloody struggle for political supremacy. The Rocky Mountain Military Affairs Society is a proud affiliate of the Society for Military History.
