“Celebrate Christmas, It’s All About A Child”

The Tenth Annual, “Celebrate Christmas, It’s All About A Child,” will be held on Sunday evening December 8, 2019, 6:00pm, at Agape Fellowship Church, 611 Broadway Ave. Pueblo. As in previous years, admission into the concert event is a donation of an unwrapped new toy or gift. The toys and gifts are distributed to children and adolescents who are being served through the Pueblo County Department of Human Services Child Welfare Division. Each year concert attendees and others in the community have generously donated literally thousands of dollars’ worth of gifts, including new bicycles, that have blessed many. Following the concert, the gifts are taken to Child Welfare where PCDHS caseworkers deliver the gits to children and youth placed out of home and away from their families. Whatever gifts are left are then given to those placed with relatives and family members.
Concert promoter Jesse Sena stated; “in December of 2009, my Friday morning men’s Bible study group decided that we would donate money to a local non-profit working with children so that gifts could be purchased for their clients. But after considering the limited impact we would have and desiring to maximize our effort, the group decided to fund the Christmas concert that I created, “Celebrate Christmas, It’s All About A Child,” which became a benefit event. The event began in 2009 and has continued for 10 years. Not only do concert goers provide gifts but others in the community have also generously donated including a ladies Bible study group that always donates exceptional gifts. Many in our community have made this event a family Holiday tradition in attending and in giving.
The Christ child is the focus of the concert and the focus of the giving is on children and youth that are placed away from their loved ones. Focused on Christ and focused on our children and youth is a beautiful Holiday combination. Through the donation of gifts to children and youth is a great way to honor the Christ child who is a Gift Himself to us.
Concert attendees are always treated to a variety of musical styles and tastes by local and regional artists who donate their time and talent in this effort. This year’s lineup includes; Al Colletti, Melissa Manzanares, Taylor Kenney, Tanis Chavez, Philip and Rachel Giampietro, Lea Bobchak, Good Shepherd Fellowship Worship Team, Kenny Ortiz, Shirley Atencio, and returning for the tenth year by popular request, Leo Quintana.
