First Friday Artist's Reception Description:
The summer "art walk" season in downtown Canon City kicks off on First Friday, June 2nd, at the Artists' Gallery! Start or finish your "walk" here as we are welcoming guests from 5 to 8 p.m. Our Featured Artists for the month:

Watercolor artist, Judy Weyenberg's luminous landscape paintings and captivating still life studies beguile the viewer with their tranquility and beauty. Her treatment of large washes of clear, vibrant color, subtly demonstrates "just the right amount of lack of control". "Early morning and late evening landscapes are some of my favorite subjects to paint. The shadows, shapes and colors energize me. All of these make me excited to paint."

Jewelry artist and owner of Rockin' L Designs, Linda Ouellette explains, "Owning a large, upscale east coast hair salon for 20 years gave me the experience to work with color and design." Now Ouellette and her husband raise quarter horses on their ranch in Westcliffe: "I fell in love with the west and took that love and created my jewelry designs." Her bold, striking jewelry truly captures the modern flair of today's southwest. "Who ever thought a crazy hairdresser from New York would be living her cowgirl fantasy!"

Jewelry artist and owner of Designs by Lin, Lin Ward is also an internationally-known hairstylist and salon owner, living in Westcliffe. As an art major in college, she learned the skillful use of color and balance. Now her love of color, texture and movement inspires her jewelry designs. Her creations are stunning statement pieces of wearable art! When not making jewelry, Lin travels the country competing in NATRIC competitive trail riding with her horse, "Hooch".

Our "Legacy Corner" will feature a small part of a large collection of western art by Lynda "Lyndi" Leech. The collection was donated to The Pueblo Art Guild by her estate after her death in 2010. Her works depict the American West, Native Americans, and rural life. Leech declared, "In my Western and Rural art, I want to record some of what is so rapidly disappearing from the American scene".
Join us to celebrate these talented artists and many others, while enjoying live guitar music performed by Tom Gudding, and complimentary refreshments served by the artists themselves!
